Justice Mohammed Abubakar subsequently convicted and sentenced Garuba to five months’ imprisonment with effect from the date of his arrest, while Agbabiaka was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment with effect from the date of his arrest.

The judge ordered that Garuba, who had already refunded the sum of $1,000 to his victim through the Federal Government, should forfeit his three phones.

Abubakar ordered Agbabiaka to forfeit his iPhone mobile phone to the Federal Government, being part of the benefit he derived from his fraudulent act.
