Akinwumi Adesina, president of The African Development Bank (AFDB)has been cleared of all charges by the independent review panel led by Mary Robinson, former president of Ireland, according to a report. From TheCable news
Some whistleblower allegations of favouritism had been levelled against Adesina and although he had been cleared by the ethics committee of the bank, the US had requested for an independent investigation saying it was not satisfied with the report of the committee.
The Panel agrees with the Committee in its findings that concerns all the allegations against the President and discovers that they were properly considered and dismissed by the Committee,” from Monday’s concluded report.
An independent panel of experts, headed by former Irish president Mary Robinson, has cleared the embattled leader of the African Bank of Development of corruption, according to a report obtained by AFP.
Akinwumi Adesina, 60years old and a charismatic speaker who mostly wears elegant suits and bow ties. He became the first Nigerian to head AfDB since 2015.

Unfortunately, a 15-page report earlier this year claimed that under his watch, the bank had been starved with poor governance, impunity, personal enrichment, and favoritism.
Akinwumi Adesina who is the sole candidate for the bank’s August’s presidential elections has been battered by the upheaval of allegations after the whistleblowers’ complaints were leaked to the media in April 2020.
