At least 48 health workers are said to have tested positive for COVID-19 in Enugu.

The government says the health workers have continued to give their best in the current circumstances in other to deliver on their mandates.

The state government on Monday confirmed 68 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing its total caseload to 144.

According to Channels Television, the state’s Ministry of Health has hinted that the number of active cases is 110, while 29 patients have been discharged and five have died.

However, the Commissioner for Health in the state, Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu, has beckoned on the residents not to suffer in silence as this is not a time to shy away from visiting the hospitals when medical attention is needed.

He also stated the state government has resolved to continually identify cases by testing and venturing on contact tracing, as well as disinfecting homes, workplaces, and hospitals where identified cases and their contacts have been.
