NYSC Submits Proposal for Camp Reopening

The National Youth Service Corps has embarked on measures that would enable safe and smooth running of its operations after the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions on socio-economic activities in the country.

The NYSC said the 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream One Orientation Course was suspended one week into the exercise as a proactive measure to avert the spread of coronavirus in any of the orientation camps in Nigeria.

The Director-General of NYSC, Brig. General Shuaibu Ibrahim, as indicated by an announcement gave on Tuesday by the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, expressed this during a civility visit on him by the DG of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, in Abuja.

While clarifying that different activities of the NYSC were downsized in accordance with the Federal Government’s limitation request, he said the dropping of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream One corps individuals was hung on a relaxed with full adherence to the COVID-19 avoidance protocols.

Ibrahim stated, “Aware of the chance of the further or complete lifting of lockdown, the techniques mapped out by the NYSC the board had dealt with different situations, and would be introduced to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 through the NCDC for guidance.”

Ihekweazu said the proposition introduced by the NYSC DG would be examined and suggestions made to the fitting authorities.

The NCDC DG, who lauded the NYSC for its help for the battle against the COVID-19 through corps individuals’ exercises, adulated the commitments of the NYSC to the solidarity and improvement of the country.

Ibrahim stated, “Aware of the chance of the further or complete lifting of lockdown, the systems mapped out by the NYSC the executives had dealt with different situations, and would be introduced to the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 through the NCDC for guidance.”

Ihekweazu said the proposition introduced by the NYSC DG would be considered and suggestions made to the suitable authorities.

The NCDC DG, who lauded the NYSC for its help for the battle against the COVID-19 through corps individuals’ exercises, applauded the commitments of the NYSC to the solidarity and improvement of the country.
