The United Kingdom Government has approved the use of a widely-available drug dexamethasone for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.steroid
The UK Secretary of State for HSC (Health & Social Care), Matt Hancock discloses this steroid drug on Tuesday via his Twitter handle @MattHancock.
Hancock who also is MP for West Suffolk hailed UK researchers for the investigation that affirmed dexamethasone can fundamentally help lessen passings of seriously sick COVID-19 patients.
“He said we’ve approved Dexamethasone for immediate use across our NHS especially for treating chronic cases of Covid-19.
Hancock tweeted “This life-saving discovery was made in Britain and is a testament to the brilliant work of scientists and the national effort to save lives & protect our NHS,”
The team of scientists from Oxford University said that the steroid drug is widely available can help increase survival rate in our hospitalised COVID-19 patients with severe respiratory complication, it’s said that Dexamethasone is known and widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.
It was sustained that recovery trial shows dexamethasone decreases the risk of death in those needing oxygen by 20 per cent, and by 35 per cent in those on a ventilator.
